Dude, where’s my BOM
February 2nd, 2010
Done.
D.O.N.E. Done.
Not that I didn’t enjoy every minute of making Anne Sutton’s adorable A Tisket, A Tasket BOM blocks - I couldn’t wait to finish it and get it set and quilt it. Setting is still in the audition progress as I’m playing with two setting ideas. A fun dilemma to have, for sure.
For an entire year I looked forward to the 5th of each month - and was sad when this last January 5th rolled around and there was nothing to download. And then to my surprise (Gomer: Surprise. Surprise. Surprise!), Anne started a brand new block of the month. Oh happy 5th day of the month! I loved seeing what all the other A Tisket, A Tasket Makers have been doing, too.
I had a big posting/making gap since June - my posts from the past: January, February, March, April and May & June. It feels so great to finally get caught up. Thank you thank you thank you, Anne!
Scenario I hope to never witness: The house is on fire. All people and pets are out, as well as important documents, photographs, kids artwork, clothes and fabric. The fire marshal says there’s just enough time to run in a grab ONE quilt. Once finished, this will no doubt be my fire quilt.
UPDATE: Pattern is available at Pattern available at: bunnyhilldesigns.com/patterns.html

February 2nd, 2010I love the polka dots everywhere. The animals are sweet too. Wonderful handiwork as usual. Can’t wait to see the finished project.
February 2nd, 2010How adorable! And everything just fits perfectly despite the completely varying colours.
February 2nd, 2010Good choice on this being the fire blanket. Looks like a lot of time and love has gone into it.
Another slack-jawed speechless comment from me, Natalie-In-Awe.
February 2nd, 2010It’s darling. Each block is a little piece of art.
February 2nd, 2010Ric-rac for the basket handles = brilliant!
February 2nd, 2010Lovely! They are all great, but I think Jan is my favorite block. The Gomer quote made my day!

February 2nd, 2010Oh Wow! I LOVE your rendition — It’s definitely my favorite of them all. LOVE those buttery yellow polkies, the pretty colors and the ric rac - oh, the ric rac!!!
Now, just don’t go and do something goofy like use this cute quilt to cover up a scantily clad hubby — ’cause then we’d have to take it away from you!
February 2nd, 2010Hey now that IS A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E…..
February 2nd, 2010Oh.
My.
Gosh.
This is the epitome of perfection. Each square is more adorable than the next. Amazing composition… and SO, SO, SO happy!
February 2nd, 2010Anne’s design is so lovely. Andy our work is perfect. There is that buttery yellow dot for the background. Oh it sets those blocks off so well. Super super cute.
February 2nd, 2010You’re quilt is definitely one of my very favorites and now I regret not making one myself. I so dislike having to work. It keeps me from joining in on all this fun. I look forward to seeing the quilt when you’re done doing your magic.
February 2nd, 2010This is stinkin’ cute! Thanks for sharing, you do wonderful work!
February 2nd, 2010Were you ALWAYS the best in the class? I’m thinking you were…you just seem to have that in you ;-) This makes me OOOH and AAHHH. You are just SO GOOD!

Take Care!
CUTE CUTE CUTE!!!
February 2nd, 2010I didn’t think anyone could do better than Anne on this quilt, but I was sadly mistaken. Your sense of color and your ability to pick the right accents and little touches just make me say “awwww.” I wish I could add some witty little comment, but I’m too eaten up by jealousy! It’s beautiful.
February 2nd, 2010I love your fabric choices, especially the background. The ric rac handles look so cute. Wonderful work!
February 2nd, 2010That’s pretty cute for somebody who barely even sews.
Lost is totally freaking me out, dude. Will you explain it to me later, please?

February 3rd, 2010Absolutely my favorite TAT quilt. I like it better than my own. I love October and July the most. No wonder why this is the fire quilt!!
February 3rd, 2010I squealed, hyperventilated, and fell out of my chair. The sheer cuteness of this is a bit overwhelming!
February 3rd, 2010The CUTEST one I’ve seen so far. ;o)
February 3rd, 2010Beautiful! I think it needs to be promoted to being rescued before clothing!
February 3rd, 2010I can totally see why this would be your fire quilt. It’s BE-YOO-TEE-FULLLLLL!
February 3rd, 2010Thank you for sharing. It is wonderful.
Could you please tell me what the pancakes are saying, though?
————————————–
February 3rd, 2010The pancakes say, “I’m a hot mess!” - it’s a bag I got at the Loyal Army store in Walnut Creek, CA. I love it! -m

February 3rd, 2010I can sure see why! Beautiful doesn’t even describe it! I’ve often thought that. What if I didn’t have time to grab all of my quilts? There are memories stitched into each one.
February 3rd, 2010Brenda

February 3rd, 2010Adorable! Anne’s pastels are sure soft and pretty but I really like your pops of brights and big prints! It’s going to be so cute you’ll want to SQUEEZE it.
And what is that amazing looking mosaic-y thing on your design wall to the right of your tiskety taskety loveliness?
February 3rd, 2010Well Monica, Gomer and I think these are the cutest Tisket blocks in all of blogland!
February 3rd, 2010OMG! I have seen many of these blocks. And none of them hold a candle to yours!! I think Anne should give you her pink fridge as a prize! Thanks for the inspiration.

Linked to your site on my blog: see my website link above.
February 5th, 2010I absolutely loved doing this BOM! But your blocks were by far my favorites, (including mine) because I made the mistake of using more than one background. Definitely save it in the fire.

February 12th, 2010Looks SO fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to make one. I almost promise not to put it at the end of the Make Me List. First I have to wrangle back my creative space. Got any dynamite???? Adult children, I’m discovering, are most tenacious!
February 13th, 2010Oh I love the way you used rick rack for the basket handles … very smart! Your colors are fabulous!
February 14th, 2010Happy Valentine’s Day Monica, I just love your Fire Quilt. It is a gift to all of us that you share your amazing talent! Thank you so much! Elizabeth
February 14th, 2010O M G……thanks all I can say. Your blocks are beautiful, but the entire quilt is well….O M G!!!! Would you be interested in a Barter????? Make me one and I’ll quilt yours? Serious!
February 14th, 2010It is beautiful! I have enjoyed seeing your blocks along the way. I love the fabrics you chose and that polka dot background is adorable!
February 14th, 2010oh man! it that ever cute!
February 15th, 2010Just stopping by for a colorful “pick-me-up” and visiting your quilt pic. So happy! So fresh and pretty!
Did you use a felt for some of the items in or around the basket? If so, what kind of felt and did you pre-wash it?
I’m working on an applique quilt and trying to decide if I could use felt on it. I guess, technically, one can do whatever one wants. But I was wondering about washing and the after effects. Thanks!
============
Thank you for your kind words, Sharrie! I used a wool/acrylic blend felt. I think it’s 35% wool/65% acrylic. I don’t ever prewash - wool, fabric… nothing - everything is unwashed. Since this is a wall quilt, I don’t ever plan on washing it - so I’m not concerned about shrinkage (insert George Costanza joke here)

This quilt is just adorable. I do not quilt (future dream of mine, though) but, I do have lots of paper for cardmaking. I just made my own July Square by looking at your picture. I used paper, buttons, rickrack, and lace to make my own version. Thank you sooooo much for posting this beautiful quilt for all of us to enjoy and be inspired by. I feel very crafty today - and blessed, too!
