Itty bitty fun
October 16th, 2009
I had so much fun with making my Poochie Bag pattern… I decided I’d make some Itty Bitty Poochie Bags too. Pee wee fun size bags.
Itty bitty Trick-or-Treat bags filled with treats. H’ween fabric used is from my stash cupboard - it must be 5+ years old and I have no idea who/what it is.
Originally I was going to call them Poochie Bagettes… but my mind thinks in food - and it looked like “baguette” - and all I wanted to do was stuff the bags with feta, basil, balsamic vinegar and tomato slices. Thanks to Jenny for helping me with the name. Messy food crisis averted.
While I was sewing my Itty Bitty’s… I had a visitor just outside my window. This is Frank.
Frank alerted Frosty and Heidi that I was on to them.
Side-show over, back to sewing. Giving the Itty Bitty’s some “pooch” is easy. Just pin up the bottom corners - and tack with a few hidden stitches.
Ready to be filled. And not just for kids! The Itty Bitty’s interior measures at about 4½” square (4″comfortably). What to put inside… any treat filling ideas?
I have a tutorial at the Moda Bakeshop for the Itty Bitty’s. I’ve used Moda Layer Cake sheets of American Jane’s Happy Campers and fabric ribbon to make the Itty Bitty’s. Very yummy harvesty vintageishy looking fabric - I just love it.
My favorite thing about the Itty Bitty’s… they’re the carrier for Ding-Dong-Ditch.

GASP! Look at Kimberly’s Itty Bitty’s! So darn cute - she’s a fabric whisperer!

October 16th, 2009I just can’t seem to keep up with all of your cuteness.
Kass and I will have to make some mini’s…hmmm…what do we put in them?
I think we’ll stick with the mini theme and put all of our favorite candy only in mini-size….then we’ll head out to the movies with some friends and hand out a bag for each….(of course we will have to sneak them in first, the candy NOT the friendss LOL!)
do you wanna come?

October 17th, 2009How stinkin’ adorable (I think I over use that phrase when I visit your blog!).
I just made a regular poochie to use as a purse on my trip to Minnesota. Now I wish I had time to make a bunch of these!
I think these would be great for putting a bag of caramel corn in (make it so some of the corn shows out the top in a see thru bag that is tied with a scrap of fabric).
Love it. Maybe I can do some Christmas ones for delivering fudge or Christmas cookies! Wheels are spinning now!
October 17th, 2009P.S. Obviously my brain thinks in food too :)
October 17th, 2009LOVE the MBS tutorial! My five year old son has been asking me for like EVER to sew him a bag. I have thought of several difficult ways to sew it and put it off. THANK HEAVENS, because this is far easier!!! I think he will love it! I might even make one of the bigger ones your linked back to. Thanks a bunch!

October 17th, 2009OHOHOH! Adorable trick or treat bags! Now I’m irritated that I already made bags for the grandbabies this year. These are on my list for next year and I just might be able to get to them by then. Love ‘em my most talented friend!

October 18th, 2009Love the fabric too Monica, I made a quilt about 5 years ago with that adorable border print of Halloween babies, of course the selvage is long gone! it hangs in my office and I get lots of comments. But I am sure I have something in my stash…..
October 18th, 2009I think I’m gonna cry they’re so cute. *sniff* I forgot to take a pic of another poochie bag I made with Halloweenie fabrics…and alas I already sent it off to my sis with gifts inside. Oh well, I’ll just make more. Too cute!!

October 20th, 2009OMG, these itty bitties are beyond adorable. You’re killin’ me with that polka-dot fabric, too. And doesn’t the lime look lovely with that color combination . . .
October 20th, 2009Wowzer ….I love these little itty bitty bags! How cute is that? (Deer not included.)
October 20th, 2009I’ve made three since last night. So darned easy and fast….once I got the hang of it. Here’s an invitation to see them on my blog. I made them with a twist with a different colour lining, as I seen now that the Big Poochie is made, plus I let a little of the lining peek over the top edge.
October 21st, 2009There is that wordy enough? LOL
You are a GENIUS! I needed a couple of quick THANK YOU gifts and I whipped these up, put a wax paper baggie filled with cookies in it and off to school they went. THANX SO MUCH you smartie you!
October 22nd, 2009Adorable bags -I am going to start looking for T-day fabric to make fancy bags for my relatives to carry their leftovers home in.
October 23rd, 2009BTW that fabric is Kari Pearson, from KPKids I’m pretty sure. I have bits of it in a Halloween quilt hanging on the wall right next to me. I loved that - wish I had more.
I think I’ll dress up as Heidi, carry the poochie bag and wear your dang-cute cat shoes - people will treat me just to make me go away - ROFLOL!!
October 23rd, 2009Cheers!
Oh darn - that sounded like I didn’t like your cat shoes, Monica - I LOVE them!!!!! And the bag, and Heidi and Frank, too!!!
October 23rd, 2009I think I forgot to leave a comment on these…. woops! It must be the BRB withdrawals… I love these!!! They are so darn cute. We may even need to make some for Blythe doll overnight bags. SO CUTE!! x

October 27th, 2009The bags are so cute. Ihave been making bags too, but only for Christmas. Never too early to get started, it will be here before you know it!
November 1st, 2009I know this is late coming but loved your little bags and I had the idea to make them as gift bags for my grandson’s 1st b-day. My daughter picked a baseball theme, the Phillies, going to get busy soon. Need them for Jan. Would be great if they win the Series.
November 4th, 2009I just might steal your idea for next Halloween.
OMG!!! These are great! I was trying to figure out what to do for Christmas as a project and Eureka!!! I have found it! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
November 4th, 2009Cute!
June 25th, 2010Hi! I LOVE the poochie bags!! I have one question: What are the finished measurements of the big Poochie bags and the little Poochie bags?? I can’t find that information anywhere. Thanks!
====
November 14th, 2010Thanks, Elise! The sizes vary depending on the “pooch” made in the bottom corners. Finished size for an Itty Bitty without poochie corners is 4.5W x 4.75H.
