Happy Sochi Yum Yum revisited

February 14th, 2014

While I’m on the subject of the Olympics - also revisited is my Happy Sochi Yum Yum blog post from May 2011 (Wow, really… 2011?! That seems like a lifetime ago.)

In 2011 we first got a glimpse of the patchwork we’d be seeing in Sochi. I loved the previews and even more I love how the patchwork has become so prevalent at the Sochi Olympics. Wow. Just wow. Olympics + Sochi patchwork is pinging my two loves. I hope there’s some fabric company in talks right now with Bosco/Sochi Olympic Committee to license the patchwork design into fabric. I need to say that again… I HOPE THERE’S SOME FABRIC COMPANY IN TALKS RIGHT NOW WITH BOSCO/SOCHI OLYMPIC COMMITTEE TO LICENSE THE PATCHWORK DESIGN INTO FABRIC.

I would cheater quilt the HECK out of that fabric. Especially the teal and the blue. Those patchwork bits scattered around the Olympics always make me happy!

some friends and I are talking about trying to create the pattern - I think that kaffe fassett fabrics would work best

Yes, Monica, I remember swooning the first time you posted pictures of these beautiful fabrics. They were flags and also on the model airplane at the press conference where everyone had them on their jackets.

So beautiful - I’m always happy to see the blue patchwork background at the figure skating events.

Thank you for sharing them with us!

Just clicked on the picture to see the patchwork bigger, and there were the pictures I remembered! Thank you for adding the link (and proving my one, lone brain cell still works).

Funny you should say this. I saw a quilt last night on Instagram in Hoffman Fabrics feed that was pretty darn close.

I’m right there with you - I would LOVE to see those designs in fabric! I have really enjoyed all of the patchwork designs. My DH was the one that noticed (and admired) the US snowboarder’s jacket design!

Farting around with needle & thread and then blogging about it.
