Crayon Jack
October 30th, 2006
Just in time for Halloween… err… more like Halloween 2007! I’ve gotten emails asking me how I did the coloring on the tea towels I made for Miss Dew (who knew there’d be that must interest! WOW!). Anyhoo… I made a little pumpkin with instructions. Nuttin’ fancy, but perfect for playing with and trying something new. For your own Crayon Jack, click here.
I had a fun conversation with Linda over at Craft Apple about looking at people’s photos and spotting things. From one of her photos, I thought her walls were painted the exact same of pink (Behr’s French White) as my office/sewing room, but she said her walls were white (DARN… I thought we were going to have some kind of cosmic painted sisterhood). Anyhoo… If you click on the image to see the larger one, that’s right… I keep my candy corn in an Easter Bunny glass jar. It’s how I live.
My good friend Robin from Kelso, WA is now hooked on coloring! Here is her CJ, PLUS she had to do more and made the cutest snowman! All images are clickable to see a larger image.

Can’t wait to try mine! Thank you so much for the fun afternoon. I really enjoyed it!
October 30th, 2006That is SOOOOOOO cute. I have to finish my projects before I can try it out. I remember the little pillow you made of Mama Made it with the crayons. Lots of talent is running through your veins!! :)
October 30th, 2006I’m always looking at the background in pictures, too. I like your gourd/candle arrangement! And the carrots. How cute are they?
I may have missed the beginning of this story. Crayon Jack is colored, then embroidered? That’s a neat technique - I can’t read the instructions well that’s why I’m asking.
November 5th, 2006See, I think it’s only an Easter Bunny at Easter. Right now it’s a Fall Bunny! :) Your CJ turned out really cute.
November 5th, 2006how awesome! I loved colouring mine in and then embroidering! I am hoping to do more too :) I love what you did, great job!

Look how cute they turned out. I’m going to be doing some Christmas ones for gifts. Do you use the thin cotton tea towels?
November 8th, 2006Linda… click on the top CJ image (it’s got an orange border) and you’ll see all the instructions on a larger image. But to answer… yes… it’s colored first then embroidered.
Paula… I used the thicker white towels. I got them from Cost Plus in Clackamas (or maybe it was PDX, I danno). Nice and thick. The ones from like Freddie”s are just to thin for me, but I think could work. PS… I made some of your cranberry pumpkin bread and brought it to my guild’s board meeting and it was a HUGE hit!
