My new toy + give-away!

November 27th, 2011

It’s like someone crawled into my head - and designed a product just for me!   I must have been sending signals out to the universe - and Panasonic must have had their aluminum foil hats on. Or it was Santa… and he came early (and misplaced his alleged Naughty List).

This is not an infomercial - this is a review and big fat thank you to Panasonic for making the Panasonic 360° Freestyle Iron Happy Zombie Cordless Dream Iron!
My new toy! Panasonic 360° Freestyle cordless iron

How could I not love the shiny and slick sole-plate with generous steam holes and crazy shape that reminds me of Stewie Griffin’s head.  The Panasonic 360° Freestyle Stewie 360° feels awesome in my hand and has such a sweet glide in all directions.  The 10 minute auto shut-off is perfect for me, too, because color me neglectful.
My new toy! Panasonic 360° Freestyle cordless iron

The gravy on top of this iron’s boat of gravy is it’s carrying case.  I love it SO MUCH I want to hug it (full disclosure… I kinda hugged it a little).  Snap off.  Snap on.  Bam.  Easy as pie.   I’m an on-the-go sewer and am always lugging my sewing gear to friends houses, Sweet Hot Yam sewing circles, retreats and Portland Modern Quilt Guild sewing days. My thorn has always been packing my pesky iron, especially at go-home time.  Not any more!  And I love that in limited sewing spaces - I have a spot to put my iron that’s not on my mini travel ironing board.  Cue choir.
My new toy! Panasonic 360° Freestyle cordless iron

I’m so in love with this iron, that I asked some super amazing awesome people if they’d be interested in providing one of these baby’s for a give-away on my blog.  And they said yes!  Iron name change request to The Happy Zombie Cordless Dream Stewie 360°… not so much. Leave a comment and I’ll draw a name from Random.org for a winner on Thursday, Dec 1st at noon-ish (PST), and Panasonic will send the winner the iron.  If you like - share who your favorite cartoon was from childhood. Mine was Scooby Doo (and still is).  Though I do love me some Family Guy!

Wow! Lots of comments! I soooo love that iron. That was a toss up iron for me. I ended up buying a Singer super steamy iron which I don’t really love but it is better than the one that I had. I need to ask/beg Santa for the Panasonic. It’s good for my “I don’t know which way I’m going” personality. Oh, almost forgot - I guess I’m probably a Flintstones girl. But one of my favorite cartoons is Cow and Chicken.

  492. The fabulous Erin allegedly said:

Haha, the Smurfs is always the one that comes to mind, but I wasn’t really allowed to watch TV as a kid, so all my cartoon watching was snuck in at various locations. I loved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but was horribly embarrassed because I thought it was a “boy” show and when I was caught watching them, I thought I was in trouble for the content, not for sneeking around to watch TV. My parents thought it was hilarious and as a result, relaxed their restrictions a bit. Now I watch whatever I want while I quilt!

  515. The fabulous ♥Duff allegedly said:

Holy flying saucers of steam, Batman! (that’s what’s known in the business as a two-fer, baby!)

Oooh, I’d love to win that. My iron is so lame. I used to watch Saturday morning cartoons, Looney Toons, Rainbow Bright, Strawberry Shortcake, Rose Petal Place… And She-ra. :) Looney Toons was probably my favorite though.

  520. The fabulous Michelle allegedly said:

Whoa. I was unaware irons like that existed!

Fave cartoon from childhood? Hmmmm. Either Unico or Herself the Elf.

  525. The fabulous sarah allegedly said:

wow, that looks awesome! I SO need a new iron. Mine has fallen from the board so many time it leaks……:(

  526. The fabulous Lindsey allegedly said:

I need this iron! My last one (a VERY old, very cheap walmart iron that worked better than any iron ever) crapped out, then I replaced and promptly ran over the cord of my new iron with my sewing chair, which apparently has razors for wheels. Then I replaced THAT iron, and I swear this one only gets half hot. Unless it’s touching my skin, then it’s super hot. (Maybe I should have bought that Rowenta that was on sale at Joann last weekend…..)

  527. The fabulous Rose allegedly said:

    Wow!
    Cordless?!?

  530. The fabulous DianeP allegedly said:

Wow, Monica - what a great gift!!

I’d love to have this iron and promise to rename it The Happy Zombie 360o Iron. Seriously.

My iron spits at me all the time and leaks water and leaves spots on my fabric and takes way too long to heat up. I really would like a friendly iron that really irons for a change. Thank you.
(What an amazing number of entries!?!?!?)

  531. The fabulous Kim Q allegedly said:

Hey…I just *loved* The Beatles…so their cartoon show did it for me! Especially the singalong. ;-) What a cool looking iron!

  534. The fabulous Emma allegedly said:

This looks amazing - thank you for the opportunity to try and win one.

  535. The fabulous Kelley allegedly said:

  536. The fabulous Amy allegedly said:

What a cutie! Put me in the drawing. My favorite cartoon was (is) Spiderman.

  548. The fabulous Flaun allegedly said:

Would I ever like to get my hands on a Stewie 360! How nice of you to ask for one to giveaway.

  549. The fabulous Amber H allegedly said:

Firstly, I hope when you hugged the iron, it was off!!

Secondly, I would totally benefit from this iron. My poor ironing board has to be set up in the middle of the room, and therefore very far away from the wall just because of how my sewing room is currently set up. With 2 kids that like to come into my sewing room plus a dog, it’s quite dangerous in there when I’m sewing and ironing. This iron will prevent kidlets from tripping on the cord and having a hot iron falling on them!

My current iron is a panasonic brand one.. and they make good irons I think!

  550. The fabulous MaryT allegedly said:

What a great iron! I have always been a Peanuts fan myself. :)

  551. The fabulous Candace allegedly said:

  556. The fabulous Chiska allegedly said:

I don’t really remember, but the jetsons are certainly up there.

  557. The fabulous Krista - Poppyprint allegedly said:

OH MY, it’s a Jetson’s iron!!! LOVE this and you for snagging an extra one for giveaway. Like, that’s a totally smokin’ iron Scooby! Don’t ask me why, because Fred is a total ass, but I liked the Flintstones. Maybe that’s why I became a geologist. All that rock.

  558. The fabulous Toby allegedly said:

What a cool iron. I could really use a new one, both of mine are ancient models with below average performance. Did a double take at that second photo as I figured it MUST be an illusion.

My favorite cartoon was the Jetson’s.

  559. The fabulous Karin allegedly said:

WOW, what a GREAT iron and that was awesome of them to let you do a giveaway! I would LOVE an iron like this! Very nice!

  560. The fabulous starjumper allegedly said:

i sure need a new iron. i bought a little travel one that disappeared in my last move, so my mom gave me her old one… that was 5 years ago, and i think that iron is older than me… as is most of my parents’ stuff. that 10 minute shutoff seems like a good thing… i’ve been known to leave my iron on overnight… well, not “known”, i made sure my husband didn’t find out!!!

my favorite cartoon character right now is tinkerbell… in the movies that have come out in the last few years tink finds out that she’s a tinker fairy which are basically the engineers of the fairy world… after 6 years of school and 5 years of working I finally became a professional engineer and to commemorate this I got a tinkerbell tattoo on my right arm… the arm i use to tinker!

  571. The fabulous Tammy Short allegedly said:

What a space-age, atomic cutie of an iron. What I wouldn’t give to have it hover over my humble ironing board. In fact, I belive that Jane Jetson (or her maid, Rosie) would have jetted right out to buy one at their local Sky-Mart!

  572. The fabulous RobinLovesQuilting allegedly said:

That is one sexy toy! I get so wrapped up in my iron cord, and I’ve never seen one with points at both ends.

In my day, Jem was truly, truly, TRULY outrageous, but I also loved Eeyore.

  573. The fabulous Laura T allegedly said:

My brother and I took turns choosing which cartoons to watch on Saturday mornings. OMG we only had one TV in the house and no way to record the shows and watch them later. That meant we did nothing until almost noon except watch our cartoons. Love your blog! It has always been a great pick-me-up on a bad day. k

SPEAKING OF CLEVER have I ever told you the one about dropping my iron repeatedly and ruining the carpet…….because I didn’t have enough money to purchase an iron that would stand up?…….Gee, I think an iron would have been cheaper than having to replace an entire livingroom of carpet.
