You can do it! Such a pretty bag!!!

  6. The fabulous Caroline allegedly said:

Oh you can do it!!!! It’s way scarier looking than it really is. It’s such a cool bag and a nice size. Email me if you need help - i made it years ago but i think i can still dredge up some tidbits of wisdom from my experience.

  7. The fabulous Megan allegedly said:

Oh - I just cut mine out! A little scared to sew it up but maybe I’ll bring to the all day sew on the 22nd. At least there’ll be moral support there!

    YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Thank you SO much for including my Weekender in your photo collage. Yes, I can attest to the fact that it IS like climbing the Mt.Everest of sewing! I still haven’t taken it out of the house yet either. I think I’m scarred for life. I sent my pattern to someone else because I never want to sew the Weekender again. However…it IS pretty cool when it is finished and you have had some wine to calm down and celebrate. NOTE: While you WILL feel like having wine, or even something stronger, while you are doing the actual construction, I highly recommend against it.

I totally LOVE this bag. I made it a few months ago and have used it several times for WEEKEND trips with my girlfriends. I have been sewing for 40+ years and I admit it was quite involved, but Amy gives you good directions. I made a couple changes to suit me…but that’s the beauty of making things for ourselves…we can do that :-)
    Enjoy :-)
    Teresa

  11. The fabulous Vickie E allegedly said:

I have that pattern and I haven’t tried it yet either…BIG mountain for sure.

  12. The fabulous LeslieUnfinished allegedly said:

Oh my! I have been coveting this bag for quite some time now, but just can’t seem to suck up the courage to do it. I think if we all just breathe…slow down…and take one step at a time…we can do it!

  13. The fabulous Chris allegedly said:

OK, so I am thinking I must have one of these for going back and forth to my new lake camp. Problem is I want it for tomorrow when I am going to camp.

  14. The fabulous Teresa allegedly said:

Ohhhhh… I think I need a new bag for Market. Yes, yes I do.

  15. The fabulous karen allegedly said:

Resistance is futile, particularly with these beautiful examples! Gorgeous!

  16. The fabulous Tara allegedly said:

I have this pattern but haven’t made it yet. A little intimidated maybe
    Great inspiration photos

  17. The fabulous Jackie allegedly said:

Aren’t they lovely? I can see why you’re having trouble resisting. Resisting is futile! :) I don’t have the sewing skills yet for this bag. But one day I will!

    Want want want want want!

  19. The fabulous Abbe allegedly said:

I’ve had the pattern for ages and got it out only yesterday. Still not quite brave enough so I’m trying one of her others…it’s going well so far so maybe soon.
    Maybe :o)
    Good luck with yours,
    Abbe

  20. The fabulous Jill C allegedly said:

  22. The fabulous QBee allegedly said:

Wow! There’s not one of those I wouldn’t love to have! I’m kind of a scaredy-cat though. If you find a sherpa will you send her to me next? Pretty please. . .

  23. The fabulous Lori allegedly said:

Aw, man. I want it *now*. I just had to bump three projects to get to make this.

And by “three projects”, I mean my two kids and the dishes.

  24. The fabulous Michele allegedly said:

Hehehe! It would be hard to pick just one.

  25. The fabulous DianeP allegedly said:

If anyone can conquer this Weekender Mountain, it surely is you Happy Zombie! We Zombiettes have total confidence in you!!

  26. The fabulous Sharrieboberry allegedly said:

    Drool.

  27. The fabulous Renee allegedly said:

Monica, you CAN do this!! I made it a couple of years ago, and it is quite a hill to climb - but I love it every time I use it! In fact, looking at the pretty bags above makes me want to go climbing again.

  28. The fabulous pam allegedly said:

WOW are you really going to make this? Its pretty cool but the thought of wrestling with the stiff stuff scares me.

  29. The fabulous Krista - Poppyprint allegedly said:

I wish you good luck and lots of yak butter tea to keep you going. I have climbed that mountain and I’m not going back!

  30. The fabulous mo allegedly said:

I am so there with you. Now to figure out which fabric…

  31. The fabulous Tabitha O. allegedly said:

Yea last time I climbed that mountain I needed oxygen and decided to slide down without ever going back….good luck!!!! ;)

  32. The fabulous Trudy allegedly said:

I love this! What pattern is it?

I’m excited, I want to enter the APQ contest with your treat bag pattern!

  33. The fabulous Selina allegedly said:

I have had this pattern for damn near two years and I am terrified to make it. It just sits there, mocking me. You know what would be great? A Weekender-a-long… that way we can all hold hands while we do it.

  34. The fabulous Kasi allegedly said:

I can’t imagine this is very difficult for you. BUT, the REAL CHALLENGE would be to make it with YOUR fabrics on the outside!!!!!!! OOOOOOOO…Yummy Mochi Sleepover!!!!!

  35. The fabulous Jane Swanson allegedly said:

I am all for a Weekender Along. Wouldn’t that be great?!?!? Can’t wait to see what fabrics YOU choose for yours!!

  36. The fabulous Emily allegedly said:

I have full faith you can do it. Amy Butler’s full size patterns are nicely written-this was actually one of the first patterns I ever made.
My only advice-sew very slowly when you’re putting it together (it’ super thick). Oh, and keep in mind it takes a lot of work hours to make.
Can’t wait to see what you do!

  37. The fabulous Stephanie allegedly said:

I finished making mine in the beginning of September - it’s the freakin Ironman of sewing! I love love love it, though. Totally worth all of the cursing and sore arms and bent pins.

  38. The fabulous Heather allegedly said:

Do it, do it, do it!! I’m in if you are. ;)

  39. The fabulous Laura H allegedly said:

Wow. You are right - Resistance IS Futile!! I’ve been ogling this pattern for some time now. I think you’ve convinced me to get to it. It looks so daunting though.

  40. The fabulous blop allegedly said:

So no surpise!! You can do it and I will love to see it on the other side!! You go girl!!

  41. The fabulous Scrapbooking allegedly said:

I love all the bag designs. So sweet, I like all the florals

  42. The fabulous vicky allegedly said:

Im the same way with her modern diaper bag…I have all the pieces cut now I just need to do it!
Best wishes, we can do it!

  43. The fabulous Cori allegedly said:

I’ve had the pattern for a couple of months, bought some Amy Butler fabric, ordered and received the zipper (30″ zippers are not readily available at fabric stores - who knew?), have read the instructions multiple times, have most of it cut out and am terrified to actually begin to sew it!

Farting around with needle & thread and then blogging about it.
