If I make Amy Butler’s Weekender Bag - I will have climbed the Mt. Everest of sewing. Now to find me a Sherpa…

Sigh! such unattainable beauty :)
October 5th, 2011Ha!!! I just bought this pattern and it came in the mail today. I’m a little scared! :) It’s so fabulous!
October 5th, 2011what is this pattern? it’s soooo cute!
============================
October 5th, 2011It’s the Amy Butler Weekender bag. - Monica
You are brave and fearless oh zombie gal. This would be the rocket ship to the moon for this sewing brain! good luck in your thready travels! Send me a postcard!
October 5th, 2011You can do it! Such a pretty bag!!!
October 5th, 2011Oh you can do it!!!! It’s way scarier looking than it really is. It’s such a cool bag and a nice size. Email me if you need help - i made it years ago but i think i can still dredge up some tidbits of wisdom from my experience.
October 5th, 2011Oh - I just cut mine out! A little scared to sew it up but maybe I’ll bring to the all day sew on the 22nd. At least there’ll be moral support there!
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
October 5th, 2011I hear ya sister! Too.Much.Inspiration!
October 5th, 2011Thank you SO much for including my Weekender in your photo collage. Yes, I can attest to the fact that it IS like climbing the Mt.Everest of sewing! I still haven’t taken it out of the house yet either. I think I’m scarred for life. I sent my pattern to someone else because I never want to sew the Weekender again. However…it IS pretty cool when it is finished and you have had some wine to calm down and celebrate. NOTE: While you WILL feel like having wine, or even something stronger, while you are doing the actual construction, I highly recommend against it.
October 5th, 2011I totally LOVE this bag. I made it a few months ago and have used it several times for WEEKEND trips with my girlfriends. I have been sewing for 40+ years and I admit it was quite involved, but Amy gives you good directions. I made a couple changes to suit me…but that’s the beauty of making things for ourselves…we can do that :-)
October 5th, 2011Enjoy :-)
Teresa
I have that pattern and I haven’t tried it yet either…BIG mountain for sure.
October 5th, 2011Oh my! I have been coveting this bag for quite some time now, but just can’t seem to suck up the courage to do it. I think if we all just breathe…slow down…and take one step at a time…we can do it!
October 5th, 2011OK, so I am thinking I must have one of these for going back and forth to my new lake camp. Problem is I want it for tomorrow when I am going to camp.
October 5th, 2011Ohhhhh… I think I need a new bag for Market. Yes, yes I do.
October 5th, 2011Resistance is futile, particularly with these beautiful examples! Gorgeous!
October 5th, 2011I have this pattern but haven’t made it yet. A little intimidated maybe
October 5th, 2011Great inspiration photos
Aren’t they lovely? I can see why you’re having trouble resisting. Resisting is futile! :) I don’t have the sewing skills yet for this bag. But one day I will!
October 5th, 2011Want want want want want!
October 5th, 2011I’ve had the pattern for ages and got it out only yesterday. Still not quite brave enough so I’m trying one of her others…it’s going well so far so maybe soon.
October 5th, 2011Maybe :o)
Good luck with yours,
Abbe
Those are some pretty bags! Thanks for including mine :) You rule. (And you have the best taste.)
October 5th, 2011DO IT Baby!!! You KNOW you WANT to! Your Fabric. For Market. Perfect!!!!
October 5th, 2011Wow! There’s not one of those I wouldn’t love to have! I’m kind of a scaredy-cat though. If you find a sherpa will you send her to me next? Pretty please. . .
October 5th, 2011Aw, man. I want it *now*. I just had to bump three projects to get to make this.
And by “three projects”, I mean my two kids and the dishes.
October 5th, 2011Hehehe! It would be hard to pick just one.
October 6th, 2011If anyone can conquer this Weekender Mountain, it surely is you Happy Zombie! We Zombiettes have total confidence in you!!
October 6th, 2011Drool.
October 6th, 2011Monica, you CAN do this!! I made it a couple of years ago, and it is quite a hill to climb - but I love it every time I use it! In fact, looking at the pretty bags above makes me want to go climbing again.
October 6th, 2011WOW are you really going to make this? Its pretty cool but the thought of wrestling with the stiff stuff scares me.
October 6th, 2011I wish you good luck and lots of yak butter tea to keep you going. I have climbed that mountain and I’m not going back!
October 6th, 2011I am so there with you. Now to figure out which fabric…
October 6th, 2011Yea last time I climbed that mountain I needed oxygen and decided to slide down without ever going back….good luck!!!! ;)
October 6th, 2011I love this! What pattern is it?
I’m excited, I want to enter the APQ contest with your treat bag pattern!
October 6th, 2011I have had this pattern for damn near two years and I am terrified to make it. It just sits there, mocking me. You know what would be great? A Weekender-a-long… that way we can all hold hands while we do it.
October 6th, 2011I can’t imagine this is very difficult for you. BUT, the REAL CHALLENGE would be to make it with YOUR fabrics on the outside!!!!!!! OOOOOOOO…Yummy Mochi Sleepover!!!!!
October 6th, 2011I am all for a Weekender Along. Wouldn’t that be great?!?!? Can’t wait to see what fabrics YOU choose for yours!!
October 6th, 2011I have full faith you can do it. Amy Butler’s full size patterns are nicely written-this was actually one of the first patterns I ever made.
October 6th, 2011My only advice-sew very slowly when you’re putting it together (it’ super thick). Oh, and keep in mind it takes a lot of work hours to make.
Can’t wait to see what you do!
I finished making mine in the beginning of September - it’s the freakin Ironman of sewing! I love love love it, though. Totally worth all of the cursing and sore arms and bent pins.
October 7th, 2011Do it, do it, do it!! I’m in if you are. ;)
October 11th, 2011Wow. You are right - Resistance IS Futile!! I’ve been ogling this pattern for some time now. I think you’ve convinced me to get to it. It looks so daunting though.
October 15th, 2011So no surpise!! You can do it and I will love to see it on the other side!! You go girl!!
October 18th, 2011I love all the bag designs. So sweet, I like all the florals
October 18th, 2011Im the same way with her modern diaper bag…I have all the pieces cut now I just need to do it!
December 30th, 2012Best wishes, we can do it!
I’ve had the pattern for a couple of months, bought some Amy Butler fabric, ordered and received the zipper (30″ zippers are not readily available at fabric stores - who knew?), have read the instructions multiple times, have most of it cut out and am terrified to actually begin to sew it!
