White Christmas trees are like bunnies

December 12th, 2009

It all started with the little one for my studio.
Christmas dec studio makeover
And then the medium one for the kitchen.
A multiplying White Christmas
And FINALLY came the big one from Santa Kohl’s.
A multiplying White Christmas
It was a week long event. It took only minutes to put the baby tree up. But the big tree… that was a week long chaotic, messy event.
A multiplying White Christmas
My white Christmas trees are multiplying like little white bunnies. I think I even saw one of the trees smoking a cigarette.

A multiplying White Christmas

The absolute best part of my my week long decoratingpalooza - was putting all the storage boxes and all the decordoohickies away. I can’t stand anything on my table other than meals and table-bling - so when all the decorating by-product came off the table and the floors - and went back into the garage…. THAT is when sighed and oohed and took a deep relaxing “it’s Christmas!” breath.

Next year’s Christmas… I’m starting next month.

Thank you for the tree-skirt lovin’! Actually, it’s more like tree-pants. It’s just a bunch of basic 9-patch stars set into a big square (I’ll try to make a pattern for it, but it’s really basic). The hardest thing about making this was cutting into the quilt to make the “legs”. Also hard to take pics, as someone kept trying to get in the shot.

Beautiful! My favorite Christmas thing is my vintage 1950’s white artificial tree. It won’t go up this year. New puppy. We just put up an aluminum tree on the big bay window sill - out of puppy reach. Merry Christmas.

It was all worth it…your decorations are lovely. I really love the tree skirt under the big white tree. Kristy in Ohio

  3. The fabulous Lois Grebowski allegedly said:

A friend of mine told me he just put up a white tree with black, silver and lemon yellow decorations. He said it looks really cool.

  4. The fabulous amandah allegedly said:

I love your star tree skirt. Is it from a pattern or did you do it yourself? I’m on the lookout for a great tree skirt.

  5. The fabulous Shirlene allegedly said:

Love the white trees and the snowmen in the sewing studio are TOO cute! I hear you about the boxes around - my husband decided to put in a new microwave in the middle of decorating sooo there is stuf all over my kitchen/family room! Can I come to your nice neat house?

    So jealous!!!

  7. The fabulous pam allegedly said:

Of course now all I want are white trees. It figures.

  8. The fabulous Jill allegedly said:

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Love your bunny trees (and the cute “someone” getting in on all the shots). I never thought I’d like white trees but yours look SO amazing I’m thinking I might need a baby one for my house. If yours have any more offspring, let me know, I’ll adopt one! :)

    Cheers,
    Jill

  9. The fabulous amandah allegedly said:

Thanks for the skirt info. I’d love a pattern, as I’m not very “wing it on my own”. What can I say, I like the security a pattern provides. BTW, cute little photo crasher :)

    Beautiful!

  11. The fabulous Natalie allegedly said:

White Christmas :: This is the most beautiful post on the Internet. Look at your lovely home… sigh.

  12. The fabulous Brenda Kula allegedly said:

One of my two dogs, Abi, seems to think she must be in many of my photos also. I love your white trees! I have a Kohls a hop, skip, and a jump from my house across the way and never go in because I hate their shopping carts. Didn’t you order that online, I seem to remember? I just love your place. It just makes me so happy.
    Brenda

  13. The fabulous Kelly allegedly said:

So funny. For me, it started with one little one in the bedroom on the dresser, one large one on the front porch and now….~Kelly

  14. The fabulous Sherri allegedly said:

Love the white trees…and simply adore the tree skirt…pattern..yes, yes, please!!! I’ve made a tree skirt before…and you’re right…cutting into it was about the hardest thing I’ve ever done! It just feels like Christmas at your blog…love the pictures of it all!

  15. The fabulous Kathi D allegedly said:

Oh! Every last bit of it looks so FABULOUS!!!!! I want to move in, OK?

  16. The fabulous Kathi D allegedly said:

The tree skirt is so great! Could you make it without ever stitching together the leg parts? So that you wouldn’t have to cut it? I’m probably missing something vital–I can never figure anything out until I do it wrong 3 times first.

  17. The fabulous Kathi D allegedly said:

OK, I keep seeing things I missed. How fabulous are those bricks that jut out to make built-in places to put things????? What are those little figures, anyway?

My aunt had a kitchen with two brick walls–yours is the first I’ve seen since I was a pup. Brought back memories of making fudge with the cousins! Although our fudge often became what we called “Dog Kibble Fudge” due to overcooking. It still tasted fine to us.

  18. The fabulous Kathi D allegedly said:

P.S. I really want you to visit me, but now not so much, because you will see how The Other Half lives. And you will be sore frightened, and hide your eyes, and run away. Amen.

  19. The fabulous Laura & Mark Sperry allegedly said:

Looks amazing. Did you decorate your front window this year? Enjoyed seeing that all decorated last year.

  20. The fabulous amber johnson allegedly said:

Yes, beautiful treeskirt. It goes perfectly with the freshness of your white tree. I love to see something unique. I don’t see the white trees very often. Beautiful!

  21. The fabulous Mom Wald allegedly said:

You can always tell your family that Christmas trees are cheaper than therapy.

    They’re lovely!

  22. The fabulous Thimbleanna allegedly said:

Really Ms. Zombie — do tell us you don’t allow smoking in the house — white tree or not! They’re looking hot though, I must say. When we were little, my mom used to get flocked trees and decorated them all pink — she doesn’t remember that, but I still have some of the ornaments!

  23. The fabulous Anna allegedly said:

Your kitchen looks dreamy, I love love it! I really want a white Christmas tree now. Beautiful!

  24. The fabulous Marsha allegedly said:

I’ve always wanted a white tree - I think the ornaments really stand out on them. We purchased a new tree last year - I was out-voted 3 to 1 - green won! At least I managed to snag a very small white feather tree, just for me. Your trees are beautiful!

    S.W.A.K.

  25. The fabulous Vickie E allegedly said:

Monica, they look beautiful. Thanks for sharing your decorating and home..it helps me get into the spirit!

  26. The fabulous Joy allegedly said:

Oh my a week well spent IMO. They all look so nice.

  27. The fabulous Skooks allegedly said:

I LOVE all the trees! I wish I had my own sewing room, because I would have one in there all decked out for sure. I’d also love a kitchen tree someday (when I move into a new place with a bigger kitchen and space to actually put it somewhere.

Love the tree pants, too! Nice touch. :)

I also don’t like all the packaging jazz that gets left behind when the decorating’s done. It feels more like a giant mess than a festive decorated space while all the boxes are still around. :P

  28. The fabulous kern allegedly said:

Am NOT buying a white tree. Am NOT buying a white tree. . . seriously adorable and beautiful.

  29. The fabulous Lemon Tree Tami allegedly said:

LOL .. tree pants! Gotta love that, plus it’s so cute in that red and white.

  34. The fabulous Carmen allegedly said:

Love your trees, love your home, love your doggy! :D

I’m the complete opposite, my tree is BLACK! MWAHAHAHAHAR! Spent an houtr tonight untangling lights, putting them on the tree just so, rearranging, adjusting, turned on the switch and… nothing! I would be very surprised if you didn’t hear my she-wolf howl of anger/frustration/back ache all the way across that ocean! Dad to the rescue though - am nicking his (tested) lights tomorrow.

  35. The fabulous blop allegedly said:

Love seeing all the pictures…feels like I’m there w/you…messing up your table w/sewing “stuff”!!!!
D, just mentioned today that we needed a new tree (sure since I hauled the other one down here..sheesh) and it should be a white one! Was he looking at your blog???
    Yours look marvy!!

  36. The fabulous Mary Anne Drury allegedly said:

Sigh……(that’s my wistful, envious sigh) ….everything looks SO pretty!!! AND finished AND the storage boxes and “decordoohickies” are all put away !!!! WOW !!! I still have a half decorated tree with half empty storage boxes all over the living room ….. I figure if I just leave it all the way it is, then after Christmas instead of being half finished decorating, I’ll be half finished undecorating ….Ta Da !!!

  37. The fabulous Kasi allegedly said:

I would never in a million years buy a white tree…it so says RETRO ’50s to me, but seeing your all your’s all lit up from inside makes me want TEN OF THEM!!!!!!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!

    Merry Christmas!

  38. The fabulous Kimara allegedly said:

Your white trees are beautiful! What a magical feel! I have one more of those nasty containers left sitting in my foyer. Mostly table adornments and I’m still using tables to wrap and store! Then I can empty it and tuck it away and I’ll be able to do my owwwws and ahhhhs :)

  39. The fabulous louise allegedly said:

  42. The fabulous Jen in NY allegedly said:

Oh so nice. The trees are just gorgeous. The other things I heart are your doggie (I love the cute eyebrow-look) and the great view of your kitchen. It’s sooo pretty and neat! My life’s mission is to keep my huge kitchen island clear. I am failing miserably. *sniff*

  44. The fabulous elizabeth allegedly said:

Everything looks so amazing! But my favorite part? Your snowflakes! Why can’t I ever find Christmas fabric that looks that cute?

  45. The fabulous Kathy allegedly said:

Your white trees are lovely and fresh. The ornaments show up so well on the trees also even when the lights aren’t on. I have three this year too.

  46. The fabulous cathy payne allegedly said:

  49. The fabulous Quilted Quickies allegedly said:

How beautiful! I can feel all the Christmas cheer right through my computer screen. Love the doggie pic!! Have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy your beautiful decorations!!

  50. The fabulous angelina allegedly said:

I see that this is true- however, white Christmas trees don’t give you garden gold. On the other hand, who needs manure when you can sit and look at such charming trees all day long?

  51. The fabulous brigette allegedly said:

    monica,
okay. i got out my red fabric. and my white fabric. but i can’t find this exact block… the ones i found that were close, the points were just a flying geese block, but your points look longer than that…any ideas? pointers? (no pun intended) mockery?
    b.

  52. The fabulous Bonnie allegedly said:

The best shot? Your sweet “puppy” looking over his shoulder, with that sweet, kindda “hang-dog - i-love-you” look!!
Too adorable. (and tell the trees to knock it off!!)
    (((Bonnie)))

  53. The fabulous Paula allegedly said:

Are those paper Gnomes I’m seeing or are they cloth or what? Dang - I love them whatever they are! The tree’s are gorgeous - I thought ours was really pretty this year but now I’m hanging my head in shame….

  54. The fabulous val allegedly said:

    Santa Kohl’s HA!
I know what you mean about sighing with relief though. I have a little tree upstairs, a gargantuan tree in the dining room and then a set of 3 twig trees in the foyer. I have to get them up AT THE SAME TIME…because I’m psychotic….
Let me know when you start decorating, we can be nuts together!

  55. The fabulous Sally allegedly said:

Those white trees are super dooper fabulous. LOVE the ornaments on the kitchen tree, and the tree pants are very cool, too.

  56. The fabulous Karen Snyder allegedly said:

I’m in LOVE with your white Christmas!

  57. The fabulous Duabe allegedly said:

Thank you, Monica, for sharing your beautiful home and trees with us. What a beautiful inspiration!

I wasn’t going to put up a tree this year (family illness), but now I’m inspired by you once again and will put up my silver tinsel tree. Not as pretty as your white ones, but it will do just fine.

    Merry Christmas!

  58. The fabulous Busy Little Quilter allegedly said:

A decorating palooza…I guess I had one of those, too!! And I called it a nervous breakdown. lol

    The white trees are gorgeous!

Your decorating was worth all the hard work. Thanks for the tour!

  59. The fabulous Cyndi allegedly said:

Absolutely FABULOUS and completely cute Monica… Merry Christmas! We’ll have to plan a new year get together. :)

  60. The fabulous nanette allegedly said:
