Don’t kill your TV… paint it!
October 25th, 2009
I spotted this TV last night at the Bridgewater Bristo. I’ve never been so enamored with recycled art as I have this funky old TV.
Works best if you pause it, let it load, and then play it. It’s hard to tell, but it’s the TV’s static that makes the magic happen.

What an awesome piece of art! I’ve never seen anything like it. I wonder what it would look like if the tv still worked and was turned on…maybe it would glow all crazy like!! I’m thinking big round circles in the backround…x
October 25th, 2009What a clever idea. And you could change the painting with the season!!! Wish I was there checking it out with you!! xo
October 25th, 2009Oh! I just watched it again and realized the tv was on! My bad. Still would love to see it BRB style though. x
October 25th, 2009So cool! I’ll have to add it to my “someday a trip up the coast” file. Thanks for sharing.
October 25th, 2009That’s actually quite cute. I’ve seen fishtanks made from old Macintosh computers. I want one!
October 25th, 2009That is really cool!! How fun is that..would love to have it, too!!
October 25th, 2009The ideas people think of :) It would look fab with a spooky halloween painting too - lots of pumpkin lanterns :D
October 26th, 2009I want one!
Wait, though. Isn’t that snow where the monsters come from? Let me think this over.
October 26th, 2009It certainly different it nice
October 26th, 2009Hugs Janice
This is just freaky! (& fun!)
October 26th, 2009So cool!
October 26th, 2009We’re on our way to Cannon Beach next weekend…I guess we’ll have to cross at Rainier and make a stop at the Bistro! Thanx!
October 26th, 2009Thanks for sharing this super cool finding with us! If all parents did this to their TVs, we would have less problems in the world!
October 26th, 2009Your video is perfect! I think the next step is to paint different scenes on some clear, filmy material (I have no idea what that would be, of course) that would stick to the screen. That way you could change the art for different holidays and seasons!
October 26th, 2009So cool! What a great idea. Someone is very clever.
October 26th, 2009I love it! I’d love one in my sewing room…it’s so cool to be able to watch something while working, and no worries about missing anything!
October 26th, 2009Your reporting was SO PRO, btw!
That is so cool. Leave it to an Astorian to come up with something so creative. :)
October 27th, 2009haha how cool is that ?
October 27th, 2009What a great idea, Monica! Now I know what to do with our old “big-box” TV that no one wants - we can make it into art at the Squash House!
October 27th, 2009Cheers!
This was soooooo cool. I loved everything about it–the idea of using a TV as a “frame,” the fact that the TV was on and the snow in the background made it sparkle, and the fact that it was a really cook painting!
October 27th, 2009man you have a sexy voice.
October 28th, 2009;)
that is way cool. I love Astoria too! Did I tell you I’ve been there twice? Up the column both times? The view of the river and all of that is A.Maz.Ing.
October 29th, 2009I want one! Way to cool!
