Pics from my iPhoto… odds and ends of things that crack me up, inspire me, embarrass me and make my heart swell.
In Portland, Oregon in the South Waterfront district - peppered with train/trolly tracks. I love this sign. Though I am puzzled that the bike has no front tire. Maybe the sign means, “Caution: Ride with all tires” or “Beware of floating tire thieves”.
Five Guys in Beaverton, Oregon. It’s not every day I get to sputter things like “Let’s do 5 guys for lunch”. Thank you to Jackie who suggested I try the hot dog there. WOW! I’ve found THE perfect hot dog. Mad love fest for the Five Guys hot dogs! And yes, I really did want to word that differently.
Target in Walnut Creek, California. Thanks a lot Wipeout. Now every time I go to a Target - I have an urge to jump on the big red balls. Shout out to Sarah… Good Day, and big balls.
On I-5 near Eugene, Oregon. Oh Land of Lincoln… you are so funny. You really have to super-size this photo. The best part… the couple in the car looked like textbook Norman Rockwell midwestern grandparents. And also funny… this is a numbered plate. You mean there’s more like this? Watch out Missouri… I’d keep on eye on Illinois - they may have plans to copy (and slightly modify) your Show Me State nickname. EDITED IN: If you don’t have flickr or can’t read the plate… I’ve edited what it says on my photo’s caption here.
Lunching at Bagels by the Sea in Seaside, Oregon…. I caught the color fairies spreading a little color magic.
On I-5 near Mt. Shasta. The color fairies spreading even more color magic - and this time in my colors.
At my parents house in Walnut Creek. Yes, it’s a bull. Yes, it’s a chair. Yes, we are an odd family. After his recent trip to Australia to visit my oldest son and DIL - my youngest son brought me back a shopping bag from Oz. He said he knew I was going to go gaga over it - and that I would probably blog it. Yes - and yes. Mission complete.

Mami Zombie - circa late 30’s/early 40’s Germany. I’m seriously ticked at my mom for not saving her toys for me. I’m sure the captain of the Mayflower would have made room for the buggy.

Love that sign. The bike’s front wheel is not really missing, it’s just rotated perpendicular to the back wheel (because it was caught in the MAX track groove), so you’re looking at it straight on, so it’s just a line.
September 28th, 2009that bike sign… the front wheel is pointing toward the viewer of the sign. you know when you jerk the handlebars all the way right or left, and the wheel becomes perpendicular to the bike frame? that’s what happened to this poor guy when he hit the trolley tracks. then the abrupt stop hilariously threw him over the bars.!
September 28th, 2009I love that 60’s picture of you. Love it! That license plate is something else and the description of the cars inhabitants makes it hilarious. My Target has big red balls too.

September 28th, 2009I just loved everything about this post. So much fun! I thought of you yesterday morning and wished you were here. I made your bagels. I made an apple cinnamon one for TJ, Cheese and onion for S, and cheese for A and me. They were so yummy. We went to 5 Guys the other day in Historic Alexandria. If you get out here, I’m taking you there! :)

And your big balls crack me up. My kids LOVE Wipeout and totally get the connection. Our Honolulu Target has big balls.
And finally, I am such a bagels and lox freak. It has only intensified since I left LA and have been woefully deprived of such cultural delicacies. Bagels and lox or carne asada tacos. These are the things I gorge on when I go to California.

And your mom?!? LOVE that picture too. And of course, the always charming big balls. I might just break out into song… Have yourself a merry little big balls, make your big balls be light… from now on our big balls will be out of sight… Now I’m hyperventalating. September 28th, 2009OH my gosh! Laughing my ASS OFF!!!! I love that first picture cause guess what? My husband has pulled that exact same maneuver on a bike….20 miles from town….and some lady in a pickup let him load his bike and his battered self in the back and took him back in to town. Oh his biking days made me laugh - he also flipped over onto a cactus once- ouch! Seriously though girl you totally have me hooked on that People of Walmart website….them people are NUTS!

I have thus far refrained, as I’m fairly certain that it would hurt rather badly. Which leads me to another story that’s going to have to be a blog post one of these days. If I can remember.

September 29th, 2009Funny thing about the “balls” in front of Target… My incredibly intelligent, seventeen y/o daughter was convinced by one of her friends they were blow up and she should kick one….. hehe…. I’m sure you haven’t jumped on them… see with age comes wisdom… Oh yeah! I’ll bet your mother and mine knew one another… they rode on the same boat! :)
