Embroidery Bliss & Give-away x 4
March 19th, 2009
I’ve been wanting to show my Lecien Cosmo embroidery floss from Japan… to rave how wonderful it is. But I’ve had no place to say where to get it. Until now! The Cosmo floss is pure heaven. Now that I’m using Cosmo - I feel like all these years I’ve been driving an old Ford Pinto (with no A/C, crank windows and only an AM radio)… and now I’m driving the BMW (an X5 to be exact) of embroidery floss thanks to Cosmo. What Aurifil Mako is to thread - Cosmo is to floss. A gotta have. A must have.
I’m so excited that Joe & Roxie of ThimbleCreek are now carrying the entire Cosmo line! Oh happy day! You can visit their wonderful shop in Concord or contact them via phone or email. You can find a Cosmo color chart here (aka my shopping list).
Other floss now feels like burlap… Cosmos feels like silk.
Pulling strands is a snap - and never gets jumbled up and looking like the LA freeway system.
Glides like butter through fabric.
Feels like silk… but it’s 100% cotton.
It never frays or knots up on me - and I stitch with long strands (because I’m lazy like that).
The colors are rich and vibrant.
So soft you can’t help but pet it.
Candy made from cotton.
I’m so excited about ThimbleCreek now selling Cosmo, I thought how fun it would be to have a Cosmo give-away. So I got on the horn and asked my sweet friend Nireko from Lecien if she could send me a Cosmo goodie to give-away - and she not only sent me one goodie… she sent me four. FOUR! That means FOUR WINNERS!
So here’s the deal. Leave a comment between now and 10am PST on March 26th to enter - four lucky winners will win either a 4-pack of floss (that’s 48 skeins of Cosmo!) or a darling Petit Sampler kit (which is adorable Japanese sweetness).
To sweeten the deal… sign up for Joe’s amazing newsletter and give yourself a second chance comment. If you’re already receiving the ThimbleCreek newsletter… make a second comment as well. Be sure to say “I’m signed up” in your second comment! And if you’re thinking I’m going to win a toaster oven for getting you to sign up… I am! Just kidding. I love the TC news (Email Gazette), and it always makes me smile when I see it in my in-box - and I think it will make you smile too! Cosmo will make you smile. It will make your fingers smile. It will make your fabric smile.
3/26/09 10:04am - Contest is now closed. Winners announced soon!

March 19th, 2009Those colors look amazing! Thanks so much!
March 19th, 2009Hundreds are going to flock to your blog for this! This is like coke for crafters. I don’t embroider a whole lot but it’s funny you’re bringing this all up right now because I have embroidering dreams. Yes, DREAMS!
And now I’m hungry for your sugar floss.

March 19th, 2009Oh this would be terribly exciting! I’m an illustrator and crafter who hasn’t had much time for either after starting a family three years ago. But now that my boys are growing a bit I’m itching to create. Right now I’m trying to learn how to sew. =D

March 19th, 2009I’d love to get my little hands on some of this new floss and give it a toss in my needle…so, keeping fingers crossed, I’m in hopes of being the big weiner.
I’m always on the lookout for a new thread or supply that I cannot live without…and they often are difficult to come by. (Like the Coats thread that is available in England that is fine as angels hair and three ply…with the most amazing colors that you never see locally.) I like the idea that I might actually get some of this without having to buy an airline ticket.
And, let it be said that I am not beyond bribery..if I win I’ll send you a spool of my precious Coats thread.

March 20th, 2009I had no idea that the brand of floss could make a difference… I’ll have to try this kind! (Which of course would be easier if you picked me as the winner! Haha!)
March 20th, 2009Holy Schmoly! I’m the 231st comment!! :) You’re popular. :) I do have a small problem with this post, tho. What is up with wanting a Beemer? I just don’t understand when you love Japanese goodies, you drive a Japanese goodie, why, oh why, do you want to go to a different country?? Ok, so anyway, I love you even if you want to go German. :)

Those threads do look yummy! Maybe I will be lucky number 232 today. I actually just bought some Egyptian Cotton floss the other day to work on a new applique project I’m doing, and it makes the “other” floss brand feel a little different. I bet this stuff is even better! I hope I win (of course.) Oh, and great idea using the Christmas organizer to store the thread! And you know those go on sale after Christmas anyway.
March 20th, 2009I love your blog! and love the give-away!! :-)
March 20th, 2009Oh that’s beautiful floss! I love embroidering, but am slow at building up my stash of thread. My mom has a huge stash and I always loved looking at it as a kid. Thanks for the giveaway.
PS. I just signed up for the newsletter. :)
March 20th, 2009Gorgeous colors! I can’t wait to get my hands on some to feel its silkiness :)
March 20th, 2009Oh, that sounds heavenly. It would be fabulous to be able to sew with long strands and have it not get twisted and knotted. I’m lazy like that too. I prefer to have the least number of knots that I can. I hand sew appliques for my etsy site, so I would so love to win. Of course then I’d be spoiled and not be able to use all that floss I’ve got.
March 20th, 2009Would love to try a better floss. So tired of tangles! Thank for the tip.
March 20th, 2009I gotta get in on this one.
March 20th, 2009I am so excited. I would love to be the one to win. I love to embroider and look forward to trying out the new floss!!

March 21st, 2009I’m always interested in hearing about wonderful new products. This is a wonderful new version of an often used old product. You’ve sold me. I need to put it on my shopping list and also go to Thimble Creek and order some. I’m ready to start a new stitchery project and I think it would be lovely to do it with the Lecien Cosmo floss.
March 21st, 2009Please include me in the drawing.
Here’s my comment: I really want to try out some of that floss! I think I was blushing when I read the descriptions!
March 21st, 2009And here’s my additional comment: I’m already enjoying the newsletter, too, from Thimblecreek. I’m still laughing about the Thanksgiving story where the turkey turned blue.

March 21st, 2009Oh wow! what a generous giveaway.. I hate having to separate threads and end up with a huge tangled mess.. my floss box is atrocious.. I like to stitch with LONG thread too.. I have been using perle thread for a wee while and it is working for me, cept it frays a little bit around the needle (prolly cause I got 30″ in that needle)
I’ve not seen it here in Australia, but I’ll be sure to look it up…
Thanks Monica, you always find the bestest stuffs..

March 22nd, 2009This floss makes me think of when my mother first introduced me to embroidery work. I must have been 8-10 years old. She taught me candlewicking, cross-stitch, and a simple line stitch. I can’t wait to teach my 6 year old daughter the art of stitching by hand. There truly is so much satisfaction from it.

March 24th, 2009First, thanks to Thimblecreek for introducing me to your site. I can see that I’ll be a regular visitor! Second, I don’t usually join up with these giveaways. I mean hey, if I’m a regular visitor I don’t want to take advantage of a friend and hey, if I’ve never been on a site before I don’t want to take advantage. Third, I’ve been a loyal DMC collector and user for as long as I can remember (and I’m 57). But my goodness, this new floss line looks luscious and I’m very anxious to get my greedy little fingers on some before I fickle myself away from DMC. So, here I am! Thanks for your post and thanks for giving us this opportunity.
