“Staff” Appreciation Day

March 17th, 2008

Trying to play catch-up, but I keep landing on the Sidetrack Express.  Sidetracking instead of working… something in the paper caught my eye.  I took it as a sign…

My horoscope

and then I declared it Staff Appreciation Day!

Swellalicious

Be good to your “staff” too! Seriously.

Yep you gotta look after your staff… and did you give your staff a bonus as well???

  2. The fabulous Fiona@Dragonfly-Crafts allegedly said:

I will be good to my staff today (namely ME!) and give myself an easy day to get over my cold.
From my neck up, I have something wrong.
Does your zodiac thing mean you are a Leo too?
Me too. That zodiac meaning is so me…..

  3. The fabulous Shelly allegedly said:

I love that swell fabric. I’ve been eying a Jelly roll myself.

  4. The fabulous Pam allegedly said:

    Love it!

  5. The fabulous Nanette allegedly said:

Naturally I’m self indulgent! I love that Swell fabric.

  6. The fabulous Kathy allegedly said:

I, too, am a Leo. I really like that horoscope!

  7. The fabulous cindy allegedly said:

Yep, your staff deserves that and more! :) I’m treating the cleaning fairy (who did a mighty fine job on the house today) to going to bed right now at 9:23. :) nice.

  8. The fabulous Mary Anne allegedly said:

Okee Dokey!!! I believe my staff and I would like a day off (with pay) , and some Godiva chocolate!…and then an all expense paid trip to some fun quilt shops !….oh, and I think a cleaning lady, and then a makeover day with Stacy and what’s his name… Clinton? from “What Not to Wear” (only they don’t make fun of my current wardrobe and hairdo…) WOW ! I’m really a nice boss to my staff!!

  9. The fabulous raesha allegedly said:

That fabric is gorgeous! And I believe every day should be staff appreciation day: )

  10. The fabulous jen duncan allegedly said:

Dude. I have NEVER seen a better horoscope. Seriously. Lucky you! I’d blow that sucker up and frame it. AND, that was THE very jelly roll I’ve been planning to post on my blog for OH…five days now. Urgh. Will we EVER get ‘caught up’?

  11. The fabulous Doe allegedly said:

I’ve been getting nothing but slack from my staff lately. They think I’m not giving them props for sticking with this crazy diet. They’re trying to impeach the CEO. It’s getting ugly by the nanosecond.

Oh SWELL! Love that fabric collection.

  12. The fabulous dorkyquilts allegedly said:

Your staff deserves it! Enjoy it, Zomb!

  13. The fabulous Ginger allegedly said:

I love the Swell fabrics… I just made a little baby quilt for a friend, and am seriously considering buying more fabric to make another quilt for myself!

  14. The fabulous Amy allegedly said:

Now, that is a swell idea. (Yes, I crack my self up. Yes, I am still waking up.)

  15. The fabulous Mary allegedly said:

I’ve been trying to spoil “the staff” lately. Too bad she can’t find time to get back to work! LOL!

  16. The fabulous Paula allegedly said:

I like how you’re thinking! I bought my staff a new company car this past weekend….

  17. The fabulous June allegedly said:

What a cute post! I am my “staff” so today I’m treating myself to a lovely cup of tea and Strawberry Meringue Cookies I made this morning. I think that will be a wonderful way to celebrate this beautiful day.

  18. The fabulous Cheryl allegedly said:

I think I will buy the staff some more chocolate.
That seems to be what staff enjoys most!!! Love swell!!!

  19. The fabulous Kristin J allegedly said:

Wow. Lucky staff. I had to write mine up for insubordination! All this daydreaming and blog surfing at work, and then I caught one of them, the leader, mind you, hitting up the quilt shop on her lunch hour, allegedly for “just a quarter yard for binding” but then grabbing the UPS man on the way in and making the shop owner open the package, and begging four yards of some quiltilicious fabric that had not even been unpacked yet. . . ah, you just cannot get good help these days.

I acquired a swell jelly roll on my shop hop, and am toying with several ideas. I can’t wait to see what you come up with. BTW, I was inspired by your summer 2007 cover quilt and made a fun one with a Mary Engelbreit charm pack from the same shop hop.

  20. The fabulous Kris allegedly said:

Glad you take care of your staff! I’ve got a little fabric envy!! I LOVE that Swell!!! hugs to you!!!

  21. The fabulous Debbie allegedly said:

Your boss ROCKS! Any job openings?

    Debbie

  22. The fabulous Nihal allegedly said:

Wow! Interesting article Monica;) Does it mean that you are a Leo too? Or, all your staff within Leo sign? Me? I am a ’strong’ Leo:) Leo people are gorgeous in one word, that I can say this fact easily. I am an engineer, but I am enough capable one in a few areas rather than my business, thanks God, I pray for each other day.
Have a creative day, Warm Greetings from Ist’l:)

  23. The fabulous Randi allegedly said:

I love the newspaper clipping! Too fun!

    Have a great day!

  24. The fabulous Doris allegedly said:

What a genius idea…I’m off to do some clicking and Shopping! LOL!

  25. The fabulous Angela allegedly said:

With those kinds of fringe benefits — can I be on your staff too ??!!?

  26. The fabulous mar allegedly said:

What? no gab about Adam’s dancing? What gives?

  27. The fabulous Cassie allegedly said:

Don’t you love Swell? I made a purse out of a couple of the pieces. I’m having trouble parting with it, but I need to. It’s a gift. Oh well, your blog has given me permission to treat myself to a little more fabric therapy. I’m feeling better already!

  28. The fabulous calamity kim allegedly said:

    Monica, Monica, Monica!!!!!!
Where have you been? Out shopping again? Leaving Mimi at home with the dogs? What about me, huh? Don’t you miss me, just a little? I thought we’d be BFF’s until death, but now, I’m not so sure. I’m like last weeks newspaper, all wrinkled up and not folded quite right, finally wet with coffee grounds stuffed down in the compost pile out back….oh, whatever! You are giving me carpal tunnel trying to get down here so I can comment…I never get any comments…well, maybe one or 12 but never as many as you, miss big shot…oh, stomp, stomp. Did you save any bagels for me? I’m leaving. I’m going back to my blog to pout. At least LOST is on tonight to console my broken heart. mmph! BFF….

  29. The fabulous sharon allegedly said:

Can I be part of your staff?????????? PLEEZZEEEEEE

  30. The fabulous Susan allegedly said:

what a kool site! the bagels were great. yeah… lisa is da bomb! i remember when her and clayton and grayson (gosh…he was about 2 or 3) when they first moved to kauai…and then they left and then they came back. i left last may after 35 years…only miss my quilting pals and my son and grand daughter. i loved the bit about the bags. my younger sister is a real bag freak but she calls them “beags”…not just cloth, but plastic, paper…no beag is safe around her but she’ll find a loving spot for it somewhere in her place.

  31. The fabulous Jackie allegedly said:

You are so funny! I think every day should be staff appreciation day!!

  32. The fabulous Angelina allegedly said:

I think I would get better treatment working for you than I would working for myself.

    Need some extra staff?

  33. The fabulous Angelina allegedly said:

PS I can tell there’s already a lot of competition for this advantageous non-existent position.

  34. The fabulous Kim allegedly said:

Ah, yes! I’m a Leo too, and I’m ALWAYS kind to my “staff.” In fact, just the other night I gave the cook the night off, and I sent my home decorator to the quilt shop yesterday and today with my credit card and instructions to buy whatever she liked, within reason. I DO think I’m going to need to crack the whip with my personal groomer and my housekeeper soon though. But I’m sure I’ll adequately reward them for their efforts. Who says horoscopes aren’t real?!

  35. The fabulous Nanna Jamma allegedly said:

Ah yes, having a “staff” - that would mean cloning myself, and that’s a really scary thought!! I didn’t know you were a Leo! Leo’s are some of my favorite peoples, so no wonder I like you soooooo much!! You are SWELL, just like your fabric. (Love the fabric, by the by!)

  36. The fabulous calamity kim allegedly said:
