Spoon-Aid
October 17th, 2007
We all have a favorite spoon. This one is mine. In honor of Raesha’s IRL Mousetrap game… this is my favorite spoon. Spoon-n-Tell. Spoon-Aid for Raesha. Won’t you join me?
When I was little, our kitchen was all aqua. Well, back then it turquoise. Oven, stove-top… even the fridge. Years later my mom had that fridge painted harvest gold. Can you imagine! Of course at the time harvest gold was all the rage. Right up there with avocado. So this spoon is all that’s left of my mom’s little Aqualand. I’m thinking it must at least be 40 - 50 years old and treat it as if it was one of the crown jewels of Casa de Zombie Chateau de Zom’bet. Caught hubby once using it to make ice tea - now I keep it hidden.
Because of the Great Watermelon Disaster at Raesha’s house, she wasn’t able to post the meme she learned about from Apron Thrift Girl. Such a wonderful Grateful meme ATG is starting (and I love her dinner table ritual… I’m gonna start that too) - I’m acting upon it as a general tag for Apron Thrift Girl’s meme. Again… won’t you join me?
I am grateful:
* For my family, my friends, my neighbors, my community, my pets and kind strangers.
* For the people in my community who greet you with a hearty “Good Morning!”
* For having an underground water tank while my neighborhood has been out of water since early October way too effing long.
* For rain.
* For not being eligible for Extreme Home Makeover.
* For Adam Carolla who makes me laugh and think.
* For Cheeze-It’s.
Note to Mr. My Love… MOVE. THAT. STOVE. (Please).

That spoon is so cute–love that color! Your gratitude list is wonderful–the home makeover item and Cheeze-Its made me laugh.
October 17th, 2007OH my gosh girl….I love you so much….thank you for the awesome spoon love and for being my friend even on my grumpiest days. Today has been good….so far…I shouldn’t jinx myself as I’m heading in the kitchen to make dinner. Let’s see what debacle comes at me tonight.
October 17th, 2007What a cool spoon. We all have our favorite spoon don’t we? That’s neat that it was your moms. Love the color.
October 17th, 2007Your list is awesome! I love Adam Corolla too - when I first moved to the States 8 years ago I spent many nights (when we were first married, poor, no TV! and my hubby was at work) in our humble apartment listening to Lovelines - that’s the first I had heard of him and I’m a fan! Oh yes and not being eligible for Extreme Home Makeover - though the homes are beautiful, I am grateful to not have the circumstances they have in order to get on the show.
Great list!
October 17th, 2007Isn’t it nice to have things like your spoon!
October 17th, 2007If only my favorite spoon looked as cool! I love that color; it’s cool and fresh and fun.
October 17th, 2007LOL… well, sadly I think I would be eligible for the home makeover show! Love your list, you always make me giggle! I’m so glad to hear you have water, that would be a hard thing to live without even for a few days.
October 18th, 2007Sigh. Aqua love. Must have some. But first I have to completely relandscape my entire yard and renovate my entire house. Sigh. ~A :-)
October 18th, 2007and i am grateful for meeting you sp!!

October 18th, 2007I love your aqua spoon. I wish I had one too. I do have a favorite spoon that was my grandmother’s. It’s stainless steel with wood at the end of the handle and the wood bit keeps falling off. But there’s no replacing it. The perfect spoon.
October 18th, 2007That’s a great spoon. In a great yard. Of a great house. With great occupants. :) In a great place in the world. :)
October 18th, 2007I have that very same spoon in RED!
October 18th, 2007This week has been H*LL! I will email you soon.
Don’t Forget Sewing Room Friday! :D
I found your blog thru Paula’s and I come often to visit. Stay safe up there in Astoria during the storm.Although I am not a big romance reader I have found I like Debbie Maccomber too. lol.Thanks for the ling to Angelina who lives here in the same town I do.
October 18th, 2007I love your spoon. I am actually working on a 50-60’s pattern using kitchen utensils. Just love em. Will you be at market next week in Houston?
October 19th, 2007That spoon is quite a treasure! ;-) Although I don’t have any valued spoons myself, your story reminded me of my DMIL’s kitchen with pink appiances. She had three small fridges built into the wall above a lower set of cabinets. I had never seen anything like them or the double pink oven doors! I’m sure they were something special back in the day! lol! She also had a spatula that she used specifically for serving her lime Jell-o salad with cottage cheese and pineapple at each Sunday dinner! I sure miss those days!
October 20th, 2007That spoon is a treasure — and I love your list of gratitides!
October 22nd, 2007Love the spoon story! I don’t have a favorite spoon anymore - it got busted years ago! Waaaaaahhh! I do have a knife that was my mother’s, and it is very special to me. I only use it to level off cups of sugar and flour and whatever else when I bake. It’s sort of a tradition with me now - silly, aren’t I?
October 23rd, 2007Love your gratitudes, too.
Great list! I hope you are doing well. I am grateful for your creativity and great blog.
