Mimi Kicks Stash - Part I
April 14th, 2007
Mimi has been feeling a bit neglected lately… time for some quilting and kickin’ some stash. Mimi’s taking a stab at making her own little quilt using fabric from my stash. I may help her along just a little, as she’s quite fumbly with a ruler and rotary cutter.
Would you like to use what you have and play along too? To start, you will need:
Kona White or Kona Snow*,
cut into 12) 2½” squares
and 12) 2½” x 4½” rectangles
Six assorted colors,
cut each color into 12) 2½” squares
(for a total of 72)
-OR-
Assorted fabrics and/or colors
cut each into 2½” squares
(for a total of 72)
Ooops… Mimi’s getting a little cranky and going wild with the rotary cutter. Maybe all that stash was a bit too much for her. This could only mean one thing - she needs a nap. More to come after nap-time.
Notes from Mum… *My favorite white and off white fabric is Kona Snow and Kona White by Robert Kaufman I only list it because I LOVE it and won’t substitute anything else for it. All of the Kona solids for that matter. If you’ve never used it… give it a try. I promise, you WILL LOVE IT! I do ALL of my redwork on Kona Snow as well.

Yes, Monica, I would love to play along. I was thinking today that it would be fun if we did a project together.
April 14th, 2007Sounds like fun Monica! It’s now safe to read your blog while my Miss 7 is not present - cause if she saw Mimi….. and I’m sure Target in Australia does not have such a cute machine.
April 14th, 2007Yes, I would like to play too, because really, I don’t have enough projects started.
April 14th, 2007OH I love those feedsack reproduction fabrics! I made the quilt for my daughters bed with them and with the leftovers I made a wall hanging quilt for my mom and step dad when they got married. This was PRE digital for me so my only pics are the real deal….maybe one day I’ll get them scanned so I can post them. And I still need to take a pic of my granny square afghan!!
April 15th, 2007Yea, like I need another project! I’m almost done with my square-y purple quilt..to be posted soon. :) Have fun. Wish I was there to sew with you! :)
April 15th, 2007I’m tempted. Really tempted.

Seriously Monica!!! Like I don’t have enough projects to kill me, err…to finish in this lifetime, now you want me to play along? I dont wanna(WAAAAHHH!!)…but I’m gonna!! Besides, the suspense is killing me! This is the reason why i’m not good with mystery quilts. But i always manage to sneak a peek at the finished project. LOL! Before signing up for the class! lol! Bad Doe, bad Doe! Coz you know I have those 2 thugs from the secret government quilt experiment working for me. LOL!!!
BTW, i soo agree with you on the KONA White and SNOW. Definitely, definitely agree with you on that one.
April 16th, 2007Alright, I’ve decided to join. One can never have too many projects going at once. I wish I could use Kona white or snow, their solids are wonderful, but I don’t have any on hand and I’ve joined a ‘use what you have’ group for April. I can’t cheat Gyl would find me out!
